HOW TO USE

Zip Stitch Wound Closures

Easy step by step guide

STEP 01

CLEAN THE WOUND AND APPLY THE CLOSURE

Use the included alcohol pads and antiseptic wipes to clean around the cut. Dry the skin. Peel the backing off one Zip Stitch closure and center it over the wound.

STEP 02

PULL THE ZIP TABS TO CLOSE THE WOUND

Pull the tabs on each side to draw the wound edges together. The two-way ratchet lets you adjust tension until the edges align. Lock it in place. The adhesive holds securely for days, even through sweat.

STEP 03

TRIM THE ENDS IF NEEDED

Use the included trauma shears to trim any extra length from the closure tabs. The material is soft and cuts cleanly.

STEP 04

COVER WITH WATERPROOF DRESSING

Apply one of the two included transparent waterproof dressings over the closure. This seals the wound against water and dirt so you can wash your hands, shower, or swim.

Frequently Asked
Questions

Zip Stitch uses a two-way adjustable zip tension design that brings wound edges together with three-dimensional skin alignment. No needles, no skin punctures. The ratchet mechanism lets you tighten or loosen the closure as needed. The adhesive holds for days, even through sweat and water. You can apply it with one hand if needed.

33 components: 4 Zip Stitch wound closures, 6" trauma shears, 2 nitrile gloves, 6 alcohol prep pads, 6 BZK antiseptic wipes, 4 non-adherent dressings (4"x4"), 4 non-adherent dressings (2"x2"), 2 gauze rolls (3" x 4.1yd), 1 breathable cloth tape (1" x 5yd), 2 transparent waterproof dressings, and a user manual guide.

Yes. Nothing punctures the skin, so it is suitable for children and seniors. The adhesive is gentle on sensitive skin while still holding securely for days. For children under 2 or very fragile skin, consult a doctor first.

Butterfly bandages and steri-strips are flat adhesive strips that pull wound edges together from the surface only. They cannot adjust tension and they lose grip within hours. Zip Stitch uses a ratchet mechanism that provides adjustable, three-dimensional closure and holds for days through sweat and water.

For small cuts and minor lacerations, Zip Stitch closes the wound at home without stitches. For deeper cuts, it holds the wound closed while you get to urgent care or the ER. Always seek professional care for very deep wounds, heavy bleeding, animal bites, or wounds that will not stop bleeding after 10 minutes of direct pressure.

Yes. All SurviveX products are FSA and HSA eligible. You can use your pre-tax health funds at checkout.

Up to seven days. In our testing, the medical-grade adhesive holds through showers, sweat, and moderate activity. If edges start to lift after several days, you can reinforce them with medical tape.

Yes. Once applied, Zip Stitch closures hold through showers and hand-washing. Avoid submerging the wound for extended periods (long baths, swimming) during the first 48 hours while the wound edges begin to bond.

Zip Stitch works best on straight, clean cuts up to three inches long. For deeper wounds, punctures, jagged lacerations, or any cut that will not stay closed on its own, seek professional medical care.

Moisten the adhesive with warm water or saline, wait 30 seconds, then peel slowly from one anchor pad toward the other. Avoid pulling straight up. If a strip resists, apply more warm water and wait before trying again.

No. Each closure is sterile and intended for one-time use. The kit contains four individual closures so you can treat more than one wound or use several strips side-by-side on a longer cut.
